Matheus Cunha’s Transfer to Manchester United

Matheus Cunha has completed his £62.5 million transfer from Wolverhampton Wanderers to Manchester United, marking the club’s first major signing of the 2025 summer window. United triggered the Brazilian forward’s release clause at Wolves, agreeing to pay the fee in three instalments over two years

Cunha, 26, has signed a five-year contract at Old Trafford, with the option for an additional year. Despite United’s absence from European competition next season, Cunha expressed a strong desire to join the club, citing the opportunity to play at Old Trafford as a significant factor in his decision.

During the 2024/25 season, Cunha scored 17 goals and provided six assists for Wolves across all competitions . His arrival is expected to bolster United’s attacking options under manager Ruben Amorim, who is aiming to revitalize the squad following a disappointing 15th-place finish in the Premier League.

The transfer is pending final visa approval and player registration, but Cunha is anticipated to join the team ahead of their pre-season preparations.
