Tottenham Complete £30m Permanent Signing of Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the permanent signing of French forward Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich in a deal worth around £30 million.

The 20-year-old initially joined Spurs on loan in February 2025 and made a strong impression during his short spell, scoring three goals in 20 appearances across all competitions. His contributions were instrumental in helping the club secure the Europa League title—Tottenham’s first major trophy in 17 years.

Despite an initial £45 million purchase option included in the loan deal, Spurs successfully negotiated a reduced fee with Bayern Munich to finalize the transfer.

Tel becomes the first permanent signing under new head coach Thomas Frank, who recently took over from Ange Postecoglou. The young striker has committed his future to the North London club by signing a long-term contract running until 2031.

Currently representing France at the UEFA European Under-21 Championship, Tel’s growing reputation on the international stage adds to the excitement surrounding his future at Tottenham.

This signing signals Tottenham’s intent to invest in young talent and build a competitive squad under Frank’s leadership ahead of the new Premier League season.
