Leicester City Part Company with Ruud van Nistelrooy After Relegation Heartbreak

Leicester City have officially parted company with manager Ruud van Nistelrooy following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.

The Dutchman’s brief seven-month tenure ends after a tough run that saw the Foxes win just five of their 27 league matches under his leadership.

Appointed in November 2024, Van Nistelrooy arrived hoping to stabilise a struggling Leicester side, but despite a bright start, results quickly faltered.

The team suffered a record nine consecutive home defeats without scoring, contributing to an 18th-place finish and demotion to the Championship.

Hampered by financial constraints — with only one player signed during his reign — the former Manchester United striker couldn’t steer the club to safety.

His assistants, Brian Barry-Murphy and Jelle ten Rouwelaar, also depart, with interim coaching duties expected to fall to Andy King and Andrew Hughes during pre-season.

The club is now actively searching for a new manager, with names like Sean Dyche, Michael Carrick, and Danny Röhl linked to the job.

The next appointment will be crucial, as Leicester aim for an immediate Premier League return while managing possible financial sanctions in the coming season.

In his farewell, Van Nistelrooy thanked the staff, players, and fans, wishing the club success moving forward.
