Chelsea have sealed a major summer transfer by agreeing a £55.5 million deal to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens.
The move includes £50 million upfront and an additional £5.5 million in performance-based add-ons.
The 20-year-old English talent, who once featured in Chelsea’s youth system before spells at Manchester City and Dortmund, is set to undergo his medical in the United States tonight.
Upon completion, he will sign a seven-year contract keeping him at Stamford Bridge until 2032.
Gittens impressed last season in the Bundesliga with 12 goals and five assists across 48 appearances, and made history as the youngest English player to score against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
He also lifted the U19 European Championship with England in 2022.
His arrival is seen as a long-term investment for the Blues, who missed out on signing Jadon Sancho from Manchester United.
Chelsea believe Gittens can grow into a key player under new manager Enzo Maresca, competing with the likes of Noni Madueke and Pedro Neto.
Despite his recent illness ruling him out of Club World Cup action, Chelsea are confident in his potential to make an immediate impact in the Premier League.
“Jamie is a fearless, intelligent winger with elite potential. This is a brilliant signing for Chelsea’s future,” said one club insider.
Stay tuned for updates as Chelsea look to continue their summer rebuild with more signings expected in the coming weeks.
