Excitement is building as Arsenal prepare for a huge UEFA Champions League Round of 16 showdown with Bayer Leverkusen in Germany.

Manager Mikel Arteta has given Arsenal fans a reason to smile after revealing that both Leandro Trossard and Riccardo Calafiori could still feature in the first leg at the BayArena.

Injury Scare but Hope for Arsenal
The duo picked up knocks during Arsenal’s FA Cup fifth-round victory over Mansfield Town on Saturday, leaving fans worried about their availability for the crucial European clash.

However, the situation may not be as bad as first feared.

Both players travelled with the squad to Germany and took part in training sessions before the team’s flight, giving Arteta hope they could still play a part in the match.

Speaking ahead of the game, Arteta said:
“Those two are a possibility that they are available, and we’ll see tomorrow.”

The final decision will be made closer to kickoff depending on how they respond in the final training session.

Key Stars Return to the Squad
There is more positive news for Arsenal supporters.

Defensive leader William Saliba is set to return after recovering from an ankle injury that kept him sidelined for several days.

Meanwhile, other important players including:
Gabriel Magalhães
Declan Rice
Martin Zubimendi
are all expected to return to the starting lineup after being rested in the FA Cup.

Unfortunately, Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard remains unavailable as he continues his recovery.

Emotional Return for Kai Havertz
The match will be particularly special for Kai Havertz, who will face his former club for the first time since joining Arsenal.

Havertz spent 10 years developing at Bayer Leverkusen, and Arteta acknowledged the emotional connection the forward still has with the club.

The Arsenal boss also revealed that the German striker is now back to full training after a difficult injury period.

Arteta explained that Havertz has enjoyed three weeks of consistent training and match preparation, which will help him regain his best form.

Arsenal Eyeing a Strong First Leg
With several players returning and confidence high, Arsenal will be hoping to secure a positive result in Germany before the return leg in London.

Leverkusen have been one of Europe’s most exciting teams this season, which means Arsenal will need to be at their best in what promises to be a thrilling Champions League encounter.

For fans, the stage is set for a big European night, with both teams fighting for a place in the quarter-finals.
