Kevin De Bruyne Joins Napoli on Free Transfer After Manchester City Exit

Kevin De Bruyne has officially joined Italian giants Napoli, bringing an end to his legendary career at Manchester City. The 33-year-old Belgian midfielder arrived in Naples on June 12, 2025, where he was greeted by hundreds of jubilant fans chanting his name as he arrived for his medical.

De Bruyne’s contract with Manchester City is set to expire on June 30, and after a glittering decade with the Premier League club, he has opted for a new challenge in Serie A. The move to Napoli comes as a free transfer, with the Belgian international agreeing to a two-year deal that includes an option for a third year. Reports indicate his new contract includes a net annual salary of around €7 million, along with a substantial signing bonus.

The transfer had been slightly delayed due to De Bruyne’s national team duties with Belgium during the World Cup qualifiers. With those now complete, the midfield maestro is ready to begin his next chapter under Napoli’s new head coach, Antonio Conte.

Napoli, fresh off winning their second Serie A title in three years, see De Bruyne as a major asset for both their domestic and European ambitions. He is expected to take on a leadership role and add experience and creativity to an already talented squad that includes fellow recent signing Scott McTominay from Manchester United.

The official announcement from Napoli is expected soon, but fans are already celebrating what they hope will be a transformative signing for their club.
