WEST HAM RELEGATION MAY COST LONDON TAXPAYERS £2.5M
How dropping to the Championship could hit the public purse
1
Stadium Deal
West Ham play at the London Stadium and pay rent, but many running costs are linked to public funding.
➜
2
Relegation
If West Ham drop from the Premier League, they enter the Championship.
➜
3
More Games
Premier League: 19 home games
Championship: 23 home games
➜
4
Higher Costs
More matches mean more security, staffing, cleaning and stadium operations.
➜
5
Taxpayer Impact
£2.5M per year
possible extra cost if relegated.
Bottom line: West Ham survival is not only about football pride — it could also protect London taxpayers from another expensive stadium headache.
