West Ham Sign Senegal Defender Malick Diouf for £19 Million

West Ham United have officially confirmed the signing of Senegalese left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf from Slavia Prague for a reported £19 million.

The 20-year-old becomes the latest addition under new head coach Graham Potter, with the deal including potential add-ons that could raise the final fee close to €25 million.

Diouf passed his medical in London and was unveiled by the club on July 15, 2025.

A Rising Star

Diouf began his career in Norway with Tromsø before joining Slavia Prague in January 2024.

He quickly rose to prominence in the Czech league, where he featured in 34 matches, scored 8 goals, and delivered 3 assists — outstanding numbers for a defender.

His dynamic style of play, overlapping runs, and strong defensive presence earned him widespread attention across Europe.

International Breakthrough

Diouf made headlines with his performance for Senegal in their historic 3-1 win over England earlier this year. That display solidified his reputation as one of Africa’s most promising young talents and attracted interest from several Premier League clubs.

Manager’s Perspective

New West Ham manager Graham Potter is believed to have played a key role in securing Diouf’s signature.

He views the young full-back as a perfect fit for his attacking system.

“Malick is a powerful and intelligent defender who brings energy, versatility, and a winning mentality,” Potter said after the announcement.
