West Ham Snap Up Kyle Walker-Peters on Free Transfer

West Ham United have strengthened their backline with the signing of England international Kyle Walker-Peters on a free transfer following his departure from Southampton.

The 28-year-old full-back has penned a three-year deal with the Hammers, becoming the latest addition under manager Graham Potter as the club looks to rebuild after a disappointing 14th-place Premier League finish last season.

Walker-Peters, who can play on either flank, brings Premier League experience and versatility, having made over 200 appearances for Southampton and beginning his career at Tottenham Hotspur. He also earned two senior England caps in 2022 and remains highly regarded for his work rate and reliability in both attack and defence.

“I’m excited to be part of this new chapter,” said Walker-Peters. “Graham Potter’s vision and the direction the club is heading made the decision easy.”

With West Ham kicking off their 2025/26 campaign against newly-promoted Sunderland on August 16, the signing is a timely boost. Given the team’s struggles last season, fans will be hoping Walker-Peters can provide stability and spark from the back.

Free of a transfer fee, this could prove one of the smarter bits of business in the summer window.
