Bournemouth have completed the signing of Chelsea goalkeeper Đorđe Petrović in a deal worth £25 million, making the Serbian shot-stopper one of the club’s most expensive signings.
The 25-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the Cherries, following an impressive season where he split time between Chelsea and a standout loan spell at Strasbourg.
At the French club, Petrović was named Player of the Season, drawing plaudits for his sharp reflexes and commanding presence.
This move also fills a key position for Bournemouth after Kepa Arrizabalaga’s loan spell ended and Mark Travers departed for Everton. Petrović is expected to take the No.1 shirt and become the first-choice keeper under head coach Andoni Iraola.
“I chose Bournemouth because I want to grow and play at the best level,” Petrović said in his first interview with the club. “This is a team that is building something exciting.”
Chelsea originally signed Petrović in 2023 from New England Revolution for around £12.5m, meaning they’ve turned a quick profit on the Serbian international. For Bournemouth, the signing is a statement of intent — not just filling a gap, but investing in a long-term solution between the sticks.
Petrović’s arrival brings further stability to a Bournemouth side looking to push further up the Premier League table this season. Fans will be hoping he can replicate — or exceed — the form he showed in France.
