Man Utd Turn Old Trafford Turf Into £125 Keepsakes
Manchester United fans can now take home a genuine piece of the Theatre of Dreams, for £125.
A piece of history in a box
Each Old Trafford Turf Cube holds a 7cm by 7cm piece of the old pitch, sealed in clear acrylic and presented in a black case with a picture of the stadium. The club is calling it a “priceless memento” that keeps matchday memories alive.
Fans have wasted no time. Season-ticket holders got early access, and the first batch has already sold out.
Out with the old pitch
The grass comes from a major summer renovation.
In June, groundsman Tony Sinclair led the work to dig up the pitch and strip it back to its foundations, the first time in 14 years.
The aim was better drainage and player welfare. The new surface is reportedly a hybrid of 96% natural grass and 4% artificial fibres.
Instead of throwing the old turf away, United turned it into memorabilia.
Record money, rising debt
The timing has raised eyebrows. The sale was announced the same day United said its overall debt is still more than £1bn.
That’s despite record revenue of £677.6 million for 2025-26. Net finance costs more than tripled to £69.2m, and the club has spent £63.5m on land for a new stadium expected to cost more than £2bn.
Still, there’s no suggestion the turf sale is an emergency fundraiser. It’s a small collectible, not a financial fix.
Worth it?
For lifelong fans, a piece of the pitch where legends played could be worth every penny.
For critics, it’s another cost for loyal supporters while the debt grows. Either way, the old Old Trafford pitch is now sitting on shelves around the world.
